How Gates Work

Each of the 9 energy centers in the Human Design bodygraph has between 3 and 11 gates. Gates are short lines on the channel connections between centers. When a gate is defined (colored), it means at least one planet occupied that gate position at your birth — giving you consistent, reliable access to that gate's energy.

When both gates at either end of a channel are defined, the channel is complete — creating a consistent life theme. Gates that are defined but whose channel partner is not remain as "hanging gates" — active potential waiting for the right person or transit to complete the circuit.

Prime Self's interactive Gate Library lets you browse all 64 gates with full descriptions, 6-line interpretations, and Frequency Key data. Log in to explore your specific activated gates in depth.

Each of the 64 gates has 6 lines — specific flavors of the gate's energy that depend on which degree within the gate zone the planet occupied at your birth. Your profile number (e.g., 3/5, 1/3) indicates which lines your Conscious and Unconscious Sun/Earth gates occupy.

Prime Self's Gate Library provides full gate descriptions, all 6-line interpretations, and the Frequency Key data (the noise/signal/frequency triad) for every gate. Log in to browse the complete library and see your own activated gates highlighted.
